The cost of ICF coaching certification varies considerably depending on the education level, programme structure and what is included in the published fee. Level 1 programmes generally require a smaller investment than Level 2 because they contain fewer education hours and are aligned to different stages of the ICF credentialing pathway.

To understand Level 1 pricing, start with the required educational structure. ICF Level 1 programmes provide 60–124 hours of coach-specific education and include mentor coaching, observed coaching and developmental feedback.

For programmes completing before 1 April 2027, the existing Final Performance Evaluation remains part of programme completion. For programmes completing on or after 1 April 2027, ICF’s revised standards require 10 hours of enhanced mentor coaching over at least three months, at least five observed coaching sessions with written feedback on at least three, and documented competency review demonstrating the required level of proficiency.

Completing a Level 1 programme satisfies the applicable education and programme requirements for the Level 1 credential pathway. The ACC credential separately requires the applicable coaching experience and ICF Credentialing Exam requirements.
